We are so sorry to inform everyone but the Demo and Class scheduled for May 1st is being cancelled. It was to have been hosted by MTM and taught/demoed by Elaine Benedict.

Due to an unfortunate accident, Jackie has broken her left arm (if it isn't one thing, it's another!) So she won't be able to set up or host a class so soon.

We will work with Elaine to see if there is interest in pushing the demo and class back further into summer. For those of you who are really interested in taking a class with Elaine right away, email her directly at Elainebenedict@comcast.net and see where she will be soon.

Thanks for your understanding and check back about a possible new date.

As most, if not all of you who have shopped with us at MTM or More than Memories (in either location) knows - we have always been a family owned business. We are so proud to have been a small part of all your lives and family for the past 8 years!!!

At this time, one of OUR family is battling. Jackie - the MTM Senior Manager and DBY's Production Manager, (and the 'mom' of this family team) has had to take a medical leave.

In order to care for our family, and also be able to satisfy our customers and clients, we are temporarily reducing the open studio hours until she can get back up on her feet.

Kasey will running the shop and studio during core open hours from Tuesday to Saturday between Noon and 5pm. As always, DBY will also be available other days/times by appointment.

Huge thanks go out to all of you who have expressed your thoughts and well wishes! We appreciate you all, and hope that Jackie will be showing her smiling face in the store very soon!

Elaine's next class "Winter Woods" has room for one more participant. She's going to show us how to use flock, gold leafing and mica powders. She's also bringing some samples using microbeads. And, just in time for the class, we will be receiving microbeads and flock from Martha Stewart.

New glossy black embossing paste from Dreamweaver will be here in time for class along with more stencils, pastes, Perfect Pearls, and gold leaf.

Kodomo is Closing

We are disappointed by the news that one of our vendors, Kodomo, Inc. (USA) will be closing. The slow economy and the downturn in the stamping and scrapbooking market place have led them to make this decision The parent company, Kodomo No Kao in Japan will continue in business and produce stamps and other craft supplies. Although Kodomo Japan will continue in business, a majority of the Kodomo, Inc. (USA) stamp images and products were produced solely for the American market place. At this time, there are no plans for Kodomo Japan to continue to carry or produce the Kodomo, Inc. (USA) line.

We are also saddened that our good friend and Kodomo's designer, Stephanie Sheetz will no longer be affliated with Kodomo as they close their USA line. All of us will miss her smiling face and her creative energy.

For those of you Kodomo fans, MTM still has a selection of papers and stamps. Unfortunately, once they are sold out, they cannot be reordered.

"A Bittersweet Farewell ....

With a landslide of conflicting emotions we have decided to close the doors at Scenic Route. Our last 6 years doing business in the scrapbook industry have been both fun and challenging. Through the years I have learned so much, I know that we can do anything we set our hearts on with a little creativity and a lot of hard work. With that, I am looking forward my next creative adventure. Thanks to you, Scenic Route had growth year after year culminating in our best month ever in August 2008. Kukoyo Dot 'n Roller

As some of you might have heard, Kukoyo is discontinuing producing the Dot 'n Roller and Tape 'n Roller adhesives. We can no longer get any refills or dispensers. We do have a few refills left in the store and have marked them down.

At this point, we are looking for another vendor who we believe makes as good a quality tape roller that is also easily refillable. A tall order! We still will carry the mounting squares which are always the staple for every scrapbooker, and have the assortment of Glue Dots which also are great for card making and scrapbooking.

I think we are all disappointed that we will no long be able to get the Kokoyo products which we have come to love.

Using the polymer clay techniques we’ve learned from Lisa Pavelka in her "Clay covered Journal" class of '07 -- you will make a 7.5 x7.5 decorative wall hanging. The example on the right by Lisa is our “inspiration” for this class.

Today we received our first "batch" of orders from Luminarte - and it was a biggie!

We've opened all the boxes, sorted all the product, compared everyone's order with the product they ordered, boxed it, labeled it, and it's ready to SHIP!

UPS will pick up the boxes on Monday, March 16th, (since they don't work on weekends). Everyone who's in Batch #1 will be receiving their product within 7 to 10 business days.

It was just announced today that Luminarte, Inc. is going out of business. This wonderful company that makes Twinkling H2o's, RadiantRain Mists, Radiant Daubers, Polished Pigments, and Simple Solutions will no longer be producing them.

We're all so "over" the winter and in that spirit, come join us on Saturday, February 28th, at 2:00 pm to make 4 greeting cards in the Hero Arts' style. One stamp - 4 cards! See how you can create different cards with just one clear set of stamps.

Cost for class is $30. You will be given your own Hero Arts "Share Laughter" clear stamp to take home, along with the 4 cards you'll make in the class.

January 31st Polymer Clay Covered Tin Class

On Saturday, January 31 at 11:00 am we will be teaching a polymer clay class focusing on bringing together all the basic techniques to cover an Altoids Tin! What a great way to keep your mints, candies or little somethings in your purse or on your nightstand! (It makes a great gift, too!)

Even if you are new to clay (if you've only dabbled a little) or you want to use your skills to create a finished project - then join us for this fun 2 hour class where you will cover, transfer, border, color and stamp on clay!

All you need to bring to class is a pasta machine, work surface, clay tools, scrap clay and 1 fresh block each of white & black clay. All cane slices, transfer images, liquid clay, crystals, border molds, pigment powders and embellishment items will be provided in class.

Class fee is $45 and will be limited to only 6 participants. Call 847-755-0861 to register.

Clay blocks from Fimo and Kato are available for purchase in the store, and if you don't own a pasta machine - there is a classroom machine available to share.
A suitable clay work surface is any non-porus item such as a ceramic tile or plastic cutting mat and a clay blade or craft knife is also handy to bring with you to trim your clay.
